Two horse race in Gerard Buxton six a side

It was a crucial night on Monday in the Leisure Leagues Royal Wootton Bassett six a side at Gerard Buxton Sports Ground. It looks clear the league has become a two horse race as Gangsters closed up on Exeter Gently courtesy of their double points match against FC Guava. However, it wasn’t a completely smooth night as the final two games barely got going before the lights were prematurely switched off. These games will be concluded later in the season.

In the first game of the night Gangsters Allardyce took on FC Guava with second against tenth it was always going to be a difficult game for Guava and so it proved. Gangsters completely overwhelmed Guava with the final score ending up 10-0. The win gave Gangsters an additional point as it was a double points match from earlier in the season. As a result they move one point behind Gangsters to set up a thrilling second half of the season.

In game 2 Pique Blinders continued their great run of form with an impressive 5-0 win against Norfolk N’Chance. The win was even more impressive considering that Norfolk had themselves been on a run of wins stretching back to game week 3. They might have joined the league late but now find themselves in third place in the league only four points off the leaders.

Game 3 was a heated game as Alexandre LakofKet tried to go toe to toe against the Unplayable’s. Unfortunately their youthful exuberance could not match the skill and guile of Justin’s men who comfortably secured a 2-0 win. The win gets Unplayables back on track and moving in the right direction. They are comfortably mid table now and will hope to push on in the second half of the season.

Game 4 saw 2 Goals 1 Cup and Who Ate All Depays play out a 0-0 draw. The result stopped the recent rot that Depays had been on but they are still struggling to score goals. Defensively they are still as good as ever but will need to find some creativity in the final third if they are to reach the heights of last season.

Exeter secured a points match victory however, in the final game of the night Athletic Bilbao Baggins and The Underdog’s game had to be abandoned after ten minutes with the score line at 2-0 to Athletic. For now the result stands but we will hope to finish the game later in the season at a time convenient to both teams.
