It was fantastic to see all 10 of our Premier Division sides back in action after what has been a long and depressing break from football. Hopefully this is the last of these lockdowns and we can all crack on with our football to the end of this season and beyond.
It was also great to welcome the 4 new teams seeing out this season in Division 1, looks like there is some serious talent amongst them so you guys in the top division will need to keep a close eye on the new boys!
What better way to kick off the restart than a top of the table clash between Warren Wanderers and Puff Puff Pass. In a tough, even game it was a hatrick from J Stevens that proved to be the difference. Captain J Hounslow was on the score sheet for Puff Puff Pass but despite playing a man down for a period of the second half Warren Wanderers secured the win 4 - 1 and sit on top of the premier division.
Meanwhile, Barely Legal and MK Dongs locked horns in what was an entertaining, fluent game full of goals and no major incidents. Brandon Miller picked up where he left of before lockdown, now comfortably ahead in the race for the Golden Boot with 11 goals having bagged 5 of his teams 6 on the night, what a player! MK Dongs netted 3 of their own and certainly played their part in a fine exhibition of Leisure Leagues football.
PFR will be looking nervously at next weeks fixtures as they found it tough to get going after lockdown. No such worries for Cardiac Arrest who hit the ground running with a thumping 8 - 1 win to keep the pressure on the top two in the league. 5 goals for Crane in a dominant display that will cause some head scratching for PFR keeper / captain David Hunter.
Bombs picked up the points against Don't Go Nowhere but it wasn't for a lack of chances for the DGN boys, dispite having lots of the ball they just couldn't find the net and it was Milner's clinical finishing that proved the difference for Bombs in a 2 - 1 win.
The final game in the Premier Division was between Wilfred Bony's Boys and Unais Frauds. The Langley boys netted one each and Curtis Squire settled it at 3 - 0 to WBB to ensure that the teams swap places in the league with just 2 games left of this season.
This week saw the rebirth of Division 1 at Havant with 4 brand new teams all taking up places to see out the season. All 4 teams impressed with some silky skills and confident teamwork.
Chicken Tikka Mo Salah battled out a 3 - 3 draw with Balotelitubbies in a game where two strong sides, matched each other from the start and some really talented players were on show, plenty of strong tackles. A fair result in a well contested game from two very welcome additions to our leagues.
In the final game of the night, fellow new comers, LP Hit Squad were dominant from the start, playing some lovely football on the eye. Brownie Boys were a good match though and fought well, holding their opponents to a 2-2 score line until late on, until three late goals finally saw them off. All in all it was a great 1st week for the new teams.
We will be welcoming 2 more teams from next week and as it stands at the moment the divisions will both be made up of 8 teams from the 19th April when next season starts. This might change as we still have room for more teams so if you know anyone who is up for it then give them a nudge ! The link is at the bottom of this report.
Finally I just want to thank Mike, Tom and Nathan for reffing and running the night, it's so good to have football back and so good to see this league developing into a high quality spectacle.
Our photographer has some fantastic photos which I will share with you all in the FB group over the next few days.
