The atmosphere at Westleigh Park reached fever pitch last night as the greatest spectacle of local football played out on the hallowed turf (4G) of Havant and Waterlooville FC with our brilliant teams all gathering to try and claim some vital points in their league campaigns.
In the top flight, the thus far impeccable record of long standing Havant FC supporters club Westy Utd took it's 1st significant blow, as they were undone by a single Ben Thomas goal that moved the victorious Puff Puff Pass level on points with the leaders. Joining both teams on 10 points are the ever competitive Smashers who proved too strong for Rapid Decline this week. The 4 - 1 win came courtesy of a brace of goals from Benn Neal as the top 3 pull away from the pack with the season nearing the halfway point.
The 2nd Division is shaping up to be mightily competitive with close games the story of week 6. Leigh Park stay top after a hard fought 1 - 0 win over Out of Shape who remain rooted to the bottom despite putting in a great shift against the leaders. Guilty Sigurdsson edged closer to the promotion places with a strong 4 - 3 win over Westleigh Park. Liam Brewer was the difference and his 2 goals were crucial in his side claiming a brilliant win. Giroud Sandstorm had to work hard to maintain their strong start to the season. They still sit 2nd following a 3 - 2 win over WhatDivock but Harry Henderson's 2 goals for The Divocks meant it was a less than comfortable night for the promotion chasing Sandstorm side. Flamingo earnt a deserved point as they faced AFC Mole Hill in another closely fought encounter typical of the season so far in Division Two at Havant.
The game of the night came in the equally competitive Division 3 where we witnessed a compelling and dramatic match up between Pathetico Athletico and Kye Rovers. Fred Penfold was on target twice for Kye Rovers while Pathetico fired back with a couple from Kyle Ashman as the sides shared the spoils in one of the great games of the season so far. There were also draws for AFC Mole Patrol and Meat FC who battled it out in a game that finished 2 - 2 at the final whistle while Pathetico Athletico 2nds were held by Barely Athletic who register their 1st point of the season with a 1 - 1 draw. The only win in the division this week went to Sheffield Monday who claimed a solid 3 - 1 win over Bunderland thanks to two great goals from Alex Pullen to move his side away from the bottom two on what was a brilliant night of football at Havant.
So there we have it, week 6 is a wrap and we head towards next Monday in anticipation of some more fantastic games.
