Despite the somewhat sombre mood of the nation this week, our Monday night teams all gave their all at our Havant 6 a side league last night. Thank you to all the players and staff for observing a minutes silence in memory of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II before we kicked off.
Next week there will be no games as the country comes to a halt for the state funeral and the King has quite rightly declared it a bank holiday. We will of course return to action on Monday 26th September.
On The field we saw some quality games, Cardiac Arrest continue to dominate with a hefty win over Blue Badge, James Crane and Ben Johnson in great goal scoring form for the leaders again. Puff Puff managed to keep the pressure on with a tidy 4 - 1 win over Emsworth Town, Tom Newnham with half of his teams goals while Harry Regan bagged a couple for Westy Utd in their entertaining 2 - 2 draw with Not Quite Heskey who had goals from Adam Young and Jason Green to thank for the point that keeps the teams as they were in the top flight table as we reach the half way point in the season.
The top of Division One is only seperated by goal difference with OAPs and Kye Rovers both sitting pretty on 10 points, a couple ahead of the chasing pack of 3 teams all looking to put pressure on the promotion places. OAPs won 5 - 0 this week against Emsworth FC - Tom Wray with a match winning hattrick while Kye Rovers had to put a real shift in to take the points from their game with AFC Mole Hill, just the Russ Turner goal between the teams showing how competitive this division is. Kye Rovers very much a part of the title race and winning tight games could be key come the send of the season. Hurricanes Vs Six Bells Vets was a cracking game with both sides going all out. It ended 2 - 2 with a brace from Jordan Stevens being cancelled out by goals from Ash Stevens and Ade Ives for The Hurricanes, great game from both teams! Six Bells Vets Reserves took a 5 - 0 win from their match up with Smashers to round of the middle division on week 7.
There were unbelievable scenes in Division Two this week as Willian Your Mouth and Westleigh Rovers played out the most entertaining of 3 - 3 draws. Joshua Buck one and Gary Davies a brace for Westleigh while Sam Clarke, Lewis Foster and Jack Carter were all on target for Willian to share the pints in a brilliant display of 6 a side football. Leaders Bottle Jobs continue with their great start to the season, 12 points now and another 2 last night courtesy of an 8 - 2 win against WhatDivock. Lee Callaghan, Christian Smith and Blake Bicknell all bagging a couple each for the Bottle Jobs. Peter File picked up a 5 - 0 win and in one of the games of the night there was a 5 - 4 win for Meat FC against Lallana's in Pyjamas. A 9 goal thriller with 9 different goal scorers and a result that keeps Meat FC comfortably in the promotion places just a point behind the leaders as we enter the 2nd half of the campaign.
Great night as always in Havant, we do have a space or two to fill now so if you are looking for Monday night action, look no further, we can have your team involved when we return on September 26th.
Cheers to all the captains and of course to our brilliant team of officials, see you in a couple of weeks guys.
RIP Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II
