Our Monday night 6 a side teams drew inspiration from the World Cup having seen England kick off their campaign with a win before our 2nd round of matches got underway last night. The lunchtime kick off meant that our leagues were able to still run and only a couple of teams gave notice that they would opt out this week. Both Puff Puff and OAP's took this option and so their game goes in as a 0 - 0, a point that see's Puff Puff at the top of the league with serial title winners Cardiac beaten for the 1st time in a long time at Westleigh Park. It was new side Hangover 96 that did the damage, defeating the champions 4 - 2 thanks to a brace each for Haidon Davies and captain Liam Brewer. This obviously blows the season wide open and gives us a great chance of having a tight title run in the top flight. As well as Hangover getting their 1st win of the season, Westy Utd also opened their account on the night that captain Ash Hyson picked up his MVP award for last season. Four different players got on the scoresheet in their game against Six Bells as the die hard Havant & Waterlooville fans came away 4 - 0 winners.
Div One is led by Smashers who took a points win to add to their opening night win last week, RCFC unable to get a side on the day. Meat FC also had a 5 - 0 win with Bottle Jobs missing and the one game played for points in this division ended in a very tight 1 - 1 draw as Kye Rovers and Rapid Decline went toe to toe with a draw a very fair result.
AFC Mole Hill continued their strong start to Division Two with Ben Horne scoring another hattrick to give his side a 6 - 2 win against Emsworth Town. Russ Pratt netted a couple for the spirited Emsworth team but they were 2nd best this time and Mole Hill hold onto top spot for another week. PCS Vets match them on points with their 2nd win in a row as they make a great start to their Leisure Leagues campaign, Frankie McMullan on target twice to give them the 3 - 0 win against Bub Bub FC. Finally in this division we saw a good 1st win for Hurricanes who picked up a useful 2 - 1 win against WLR Utd thanks to strikes from Nick Cole and Ash Stevens.
We had a couple of amazing games in the 3rd division which looks to be nice and competitive for our teams. Willian Your Mouth came away 4 - 3 winners against WhatDivock, John Rook with a couple and Tekkerslovakia put 3 past Westleigh Rovers to win their very close game by the narrowest of margins. Gary Davies bagged a couple but Tekkers take the win 3 - 2. Great game. Peter File had a brilliant night and find themselves top of the division with two wins from two after a convincing 7 - 1 win against Wecock Whippets. Blake Osborne and Drew McGill each scoring good hattricks with only Perry Trevaskus giving Wecock something to cheer with a goal for the leagues newest team.
Big thanks to Mike, Nath, Jack and Mark for reffing and running the night and of course to the captains who probably had a harder than usual time getting their sides together this week so thank you for your efforts.
We look forward to a full line up again next week.
Well played all, have a great week.
