We kicked off another appetising season of 6 a side football on the fantastic playing surface at Westleigh Park, home of Havant & Waterlooville FC last night with a great line up of teams including every single one of them that ended last season. We welcomed new side Leavemyarcelona for their 1st game and have AFC Mole Hill coming over from next week so the league is in a really good place and i'm full of optimism for the season. There are still a couple of spaces to fill so if you know teams that might be getting fed up with their current league and could be looking to join the very best league in the area then please get them to give me a call on 07538562547 or get them to register for just £10 via this link;

So to our 1st round of matches and starting in the Prem, what a division we have this season! 8 quality sides that I think will be evenly matched throughout the season. Last seasons champions AW.FC kicked off with a 4 - 1 win over Rapid Decline thanks to two goals from Daniel Hargreaves while our other former champions Cardiac Arrest got a flying start as Ben Johnson's 5 goals went a long way towards securing the points for his team with a 9 - 4 win over Puff Puff Pass, Jamie Hounslow bagging 2 for The Puff Puff's. Our two newly promoted teams from division one matched up in the top flight for the 1st time and champions H&W Pigeons came away on the wrong side of a 3 - 1 result as Lewis Batey bagged 2 in the 3 - 1 win for Great British Paving. So Cardiac Arrest lead after week one, just ahead on goal difference from MK Dongs who had a points win due to Farlington's unfortunately not being available this week. A.W are 3rd and GBP 4th.
Swan FC made a strong start to life away from the top flight as they make the early running in Division One. Their 15 - 1 opening night win against new side Leavemyarcelona featured hattricks from 5 different players. Frank McMullan, Spencer Baldry, Owen Read, Bradley Ottaway-Smith and Zac Adams all getting their goal scoring seasons off to a flying start. Jack Baldock did get a consolation goal for his team but it's a tough start for Leavemyarselona who will be looking to bounce back next week. Westy look strong contenders for promotion this season and they kicked off with a 10 - 1 win over Peter File X1, Toby Appleby bagging an opening night hattrick. Tommy Stevens netted 2 for Six Bells Vets in their 8 - 3 win over LP Underdogs, Harrison Benfield soring 2 of LP's goals. So with 4 teams getting points on the board its Swan who lead on goal difference from Westy as we look ahead to a great season in Division One.
The Return of a 3rd flight at Havant is great to see, and I think this group of teams will all have an enjoyable season of competitive games. Again starting a season strongly last night were Kye Rovers who pick up a tight 2 - 1 win over Westleigh Rovers thanks to goals from Anthony Dixon and Jim Stewart, they will be hoping to maintain their form for longer this term but it's going to be a tough division to get out of with some good, solid teams all eager to make this their season. Bottle Jobs started well with a 4 - 2 win over Willian Your Mouth, Tom Cross underway with 2 good goals while Island FC put down a real marker in their game. Going top of the league thanks to an 11- 3 win over WhatDivock, Tom Seve the early leader in the golden boot race with 5 opening night goals. Meat FC picked up a points win to round of a great 1st night to the season.
It's always an exciting time when a season gets started but thank you to the captains and team managers for getting organised and having your players ready for this weeks games, also a massive thanks to Mike, Nathan, Mark and Blair for reffing our games.
Can't wait for next Monday and week 2 of the season, we will definitely have one new team in place and maybe a couple more so don't forget to spread the word, lets have this league full for the rest of the season.
Great stuff guys, have a top week !
