So we are back underway with a new season in Havant on a Monday night, having condensed from two nights to one it was great to welcome a number of our old Sunday night teams over to the Monday league. We had a new team sign up about an hour before the games started last night, too late to get them involved this week but they will be joining the Prem from next week and we wish them well for the season.
Starting in the top flight for week one, we saw 5 matches, including a 3 - 1 win for promoted MK Dongs over Puff Puff Pass, Morgan Easen opening his prem account with a couple of goals. Morgan Moret matched him for his team AW.FC as last seasons runners up started well with a 3 - 0 win over another promoted side Westy United. Double title winners RM Crossfit started life in the top division with a bang as they came away 9 - 2 winners over Farlington, despite 2 goals from Ethan Rose it was Jonsun Smart's team that take the early lead in the division with Zak Adams netting 5 for last seasons Division One champions. It was also a winning start for our reigning Prem champions Cardiac Arrest. James Crane bagged a hattrick to start his season well and send his side joint top with an 8 - 2 win over Swan FC. It was a tough start for Swan FC who have made the leap from Division 2 champions into the prem and i'm sure they will find their feet quickly. We also welcomed Rapid Decline back to the league after a bit of break and they got the chance to adjust back into 6 a side life with a 5 - 0 points win this week, obviously with the new team joining it will be all league games from next week!
Into Division One where we see a combination of last seasons Div 1 & Div 2 sides as well as those moving over from Sunday nights and it was two of those teams that met 1st up as Kye Rovers came up against the rebranded WhatDivock side. Aiden Griffiths scored twice, as did Jordan Evans in a great start to Monday life for Kye Rovers, coming away with a 5 - 1 win to sit 2nd in the league, could this be their season ? Also winning 5 - 1 were Willian Your Mouth, Sam Clarke with a hattrick as they got the better of H&W Pigeons while LP Underdogs also won against Bottle Jobs, 4 - 2 the score in this one. Simon Batey leads the top scorers charts in Div One having netted 4 to kick off his season and secure a good win for GBP 7 - 1 against Meat FC while Island FC got the better of Westleigh Rovers in a tight game that finished 1 - 0 thanks to a Tom Seve goal.
So thats it, week One is done and i'm excited for next Monday already, well done to all the teams, especially the captains for getting their players organised.
Big thanks as always to Mike, Nathan, Tom and Mark for reffing the night. What a great league this is, lets make it the best season so far !
