Players embrace new rules at Havant 6 a side

It was an exciting night down at Westleigh Park for our Monday night 6 a side league in Havant. The league became one of the 1st in the country to bring the new leisure leagues rules into play and the feedback from both players and refs was positive with a faster paced game which matches the experience in our other leagues that launched the new rules this week.

The 1st teams to have a crack at the new ways were Farlington X1 and Cardiac Arrest who produced an absolute classic in the premier league. There were plenty of chances and goals at both ends as Ethan Rose netted 4 for Farlington, matched by Ben Johnson for Cardiac Arrest. The score at the final whistle was 8 - 8 in one of the great games of 6 a side football. Cardiac stay 2nd and Farlington 4th on a great night for both teams. Puff Puff Pass sit in between them in 3rd following a decent 7 - 1 win over Peter File X1, Tom Marriott with a hattrick and leaders AW.FC carried on their merry way with a 5 - 1 win over Rapid Decline. Westy seem to be finding some form after a slow start to the season, Harry Regan amongst the scorers in their 8 - 1 win over Six Bells Vets and in the final game in the top flight Swan FC hit their stride with a great win over MK Dongs. Zac Adams bagged 4 as the Swans gave themselves a better chance of staying up with a 9 - 4 win.

Into Division One where we have a change at the top after Great British Paving tasted defeat for the 1st time this season. Hattricks from Pat Needham and Marc Lowe giving H&W Pigeons a brilliant win which leaves them 3rd and drops GBP down to 2nd. Replacing them at the top of the table are LP Underdogs who battled through a tight game with Island FC to eventually win 7 - 5, Hayden Davies with 5 for the new leaders. Meat FC registered a good win, hattricks for Sam Hoolahan and Hayden Fry proving too much for Kye Rovers, 7 - 1 the score here while Bottle Jobs came away with the points from their match with Westleigh Rovers. Jack Heselwood netting twice in the 4 - 1 win. Finally there were 4 goals from Tristan Jobber, giving his side Willian Your Mouth a 6 - 1 win over WhatDivock to leave us with a league that looks pretty exciting still, particularly at the top end, can The Pigeons continue their push for promotion or are LP and GBP looking good for top flight football next season ? We will find out over the next few weeks.

Big thanks to the refs, it was a lot to take on board with the new rules this week and Mike and the boys did a brilliant job as always. I hope you found the changes to be a positive move and are ready for week 8 next Monday.
