After
Covid-19, there will be football.
That’s the simple message from the World’s Largest Provider of
Small Sided Football, as the country tries to get used to the lockdown.
Prime Minister, Boris Johnson – who has given his support to
Leisure Leagues previously – has announced drastic measures for the UK to
ensure the containment of the Coronavirus pandemic.
Leisure Leagues in Boston were amongst the first small
sided football providers to put health first, with an immediate suspension of
all their football and netball leagues on the morning of Tuesday 17 March,
following the Prime Ministers’ speech the evening before.
Since then, major companies
of all sectors, announced their temporary suspension of all leisure activities
and closure of non-essential businesses. This means that football and netball
leagues in the UK will not run until at least April 14th. Individual
information relating to the league will be posted both here on your league page
and on the local Leisure Leagues Boston facebook page. Please ensure you
find your local Leisure Leagues facebook page – simply by searching for “Leisure
Leagues Boston” on facebook then like, share and follow as any and all
news is posted here first.
A spokesman from Leisure
Leagues commented:
“First and foremost, the
health and well-being of every individual in the country – both young or old,
fit or otherwise takes precedent over playing football or netball. We urge you
all to listen to government and health professional’s advice and please, please,
stay at home. Protect you and your family first as football will return once we
have beaten this terrible pandemic.” He added that Leisure Leagues were already
making plans to resume the leagues as soon as possible.
“Our promise is a simple one,” he said. “When all this is over –
and it will be over – we will be back, exactly the same as before, providing
crucial community focus and fitness all over the world.”
He explained further; “After this lockdown is lifted, sport will
be even more vital than it had been before. Physical and mental health will be
affected in the most unprecedented way by all this, and it is up to companies
like Leisure Leagues to help and be at the forefront of the nation’s recovery, and
truly bring the nation back together.”
