So the freezing conditions were replaced by wet and windy weather at the back end of this week as our Sunday Night teams in Heavitree took inspiration from seeing Messi lead his Argentina side to world cup glory as they turned up for match night 10 and the final round of games before Christmas at Heavitree Social Club. We signed off on an excellent year with some typically entertaining matches, Scorinbread won an absolute classic against St Annes 7 - 6 while Peakers Athletic caused a bit of an upset with a 7 - 4 win over leaders Oldham Pathetic. Fatzio had a night off with a points win as Steau Needarest couldn't get there leaving The Elite to close the gap at the top with a convincing 18 - 2 win over Chevalier who despite the defeat were full of festive flavour, even gifting ref Neil a present. It is likely to be their last evening with us as they have indicated the need to leave the league at this point. We are sad to see them go but it opens the door to a new side to get involved after the Christmas break. If you have a 5 a side team that you would like to enter into this league just get in touch now and we can have you ready to go when we return to action on 8th January.
Thank you to all our teams for their commitment over the year, we are excited for 2023 in Heavitree with a brilliant group of teams in place. Thanks as always to Neil for reffing our matches and to the captains for keeping their sides together through the year.
Have a brilliant Christmas and a safe and happy new year, see you all back on 8th January.
