NEW 5 A SIDE SEASON UNDERWAY IN HEAVITREE

NEW SEASON

Brilliant to kick off a new campaign in Heavitree on Sunday night as our 5 a side league restarted with the 1st of 14 weeks of matches. Oldham Pathetic were presented with their trophy for winning the previous season and quickly went about their title defence against Exeter's Young Boys. Martin Mann bagged a hattrick, as did Chris Murphy as the champions started in style with a 9 - 1 win.

Last seasons runners up The Elite found the opening night harder, coming up against a quality performance from Divine Interception. Divine were in fine goal scoring form, led by Owen Bradley with 5 and Jake Vincent and Will Pyle each with 4.

Our newest team to this league, Touched By Gough had a tough start. Fin Hobday scored twice for them but Scorinbread Utd were too strong on the night and ran away 10 - 2 winners.

The final game was an absolute classic that ended 8 - 7 to the Ryan Giggs Top 10 Hits side led by Ben Baars. The skipper was in good form netting 4 himeslf while team mate Owen Cawood got 3. Steau Needarest more than played their part in this game though and their own captain Tal Donahue will be frustrated to have scored 4 himself and yet had to go home with no points from the game. Great game and hopefully a sign of things to come this season.

Well done to all the teams, thanks for being ready for the games, roll on week 2 on Sunday !
