New Exeter Sunday 5 a side season gets underway!

The curtains rose on the first week of the Exeter Sunday 5-a-side Football League with teams across the Premier League and Division 1 divisions providing us with a thrilling start to the new season.

PREMIER LEAGUE

In the Premier League, Receding FC dominated their match against newly promoted Whipton BBQ Kebab House CF with a thorough 7-2 victory. The star of the game was Ryan Clarke who contributed a whopping four goals, cementing his position as the top scorer for the Premier League division in Week 1.

Similarly, Smeg United also made a powerful statement, stamping their authority with a 6-1 win against Scorinbread United. However, the game of the week was arguably the hotly contested match between Dusty Ballers and Steau Needarest, with the latter squeaking a 6-5 victory in a nail-biting finish.

DIVISION ONE  

In Division 1, the Tig Bitty Goth Girls emerged victorious in their clash against Stella Fellas FC. The 12-5 win saw Josh Bradley net an impressive six goals, making him the top scorer for Division 1 for the week.

However, the spotlight was firmly on Victor Moses Lawn who battled to a close 7-6 victory over Pinhoe Dome Raiders. Their star player, Tom Berry, was adjudged the Most Valued Player of the week, a well-deserved accolade that was the cherry on top of a thrilling start to the season.

We can look forward to more action and drama in the coming weeks as the teams regroup and strategize for the subsequent rounds. If the first week is anything to go by, this season promises to be a rollercoaster of footballing action and excitement.
