As the first week of the Exeter Sunday 5 a side Football League kicked off, a frenzy of goals and on-field action signalled the start of an exciting new season.
PREMIER LEAGUE
In the Premier League, Steau Needarest left us and opponents Sidmouth Slugs stunned with a comprehensive 9-3 victory. Indeed, the star of the evening was Ciaran Brennan, who hit the back of the net five times, ensuring his position as the top scorer in the Premier League in the opening week. Not to be outdone, Scorinbread United also made a winning start, beating Smeg United in a 3-1 victory.
DIVISION ONE
Turning attention to Division 1, a smorgasbord of goals was the order of the day. Whipton BBQ Kebab House CF put on a scintillating display, outclassing Ayew Taking This with a 10-2 scoreline. The highlight of the match was Lucio Gablinger's incredible performance, scoring four goals.
Elsewhere in Division 1, Oldham Pathetic FC demonstrated their prowess with a 6-2 victory over Queens Park Strangers. In an equally high-scoring encounter, Dusty Ballers triumphed over RO Champions 7-4.
While the top scorers of the week were undoubtedly impressive, the most valued player accolade went to Edward Mills from Dusty Ballers. His outstanding performance was integral to his team's victory and sets the tone for what promises to be a thrilling season ahead.
As the season unfolds, all eyes will be on the next set of fixtures. If the opening week is anything to go by, this season promises a whirlwind of goals, high-octane action, and nail-biting finishes.
Thank you to Neil for running the evening and to all of our players. Good luck next week!
