New Exeter Sunday 5 a side season kicks off!

The Exeter Sunday Football League kicked off its season in thrilling fashion last night, with a flurry of goals and gripping matches in the Premier League and Division 1.

PREMIER LEAGUE

In the Premier League, the match between Scorinbread United and Smeg United was the highlight of the evening, with the latter edging a nail-biting contest 6-5. Smeg United's victory was largely down to an exceptional performance from Lewis Piper, who netted four times, showcasing his lethal finishing abilities. Piper's impressive performance earned him the accolade of this week's Most Valued Player, a testament to his influence on the game and his team's victory.

Newly promoted Div 1 champions Robbenyourkids FC and reigning Premier League champions Tig Bitty Goth Girls also produced an intense match, with Robbenyourkids FC squeezing past their rivals 4-3. This was followed by another high scoring game between Steau Needarest and Whipton BBQ Kebab House CF, resulting in a 4-3 victory for Whipton.

DIVISION ONE

Shifting focus to Division 1, the match between Stella Fellas FC and IDIDYAMOTHERWELL was a roller-coaster ride, ending in a 5-5 draw. Dusty Ballers made a statement by outplaying Roddys Roundup 8-4. Dusty Ballers' victory was greatly influenced by the dynamic Coby Smith, who scored five goals, topping the scoring charts for Division 1 this week.

As the season has just begun, all teams showed great promise and potential. The level of competition in both the Premier League and Division 1 hints at an exciting and unpredictable season ahead. We await the next round of matches with bated breath, eager to see if Piper and Smith can maintain their hot scoring streaks and if their respective teams can build on their impressive starts.
