Chatham Monday 5 a side news | WEEK 1

In a thrilling start to the new Chatham Monday 5-a-side Football league season, teams across three divisions faced off in what can only be described as a feast of football. The scorelines across all divisions were a testament to the skill, passion and sheer sporting prowess on display.

DIVISION ONE
In Division 1's opening week, the standout performance came from Get Your Scally Out FC, who notched up a comprehensive 10-4 victory over Cadiz Nuts CF. Not to be outdone, Unathletico Madrid lived up to their name (in a reverse manner) by thumping Holcombe Goons 7-1. The division's top scorer so far is Michael Walsh of the Pheasant Pluckers, who netted an impressive haul of 4 goals in a thrilling 8-8 draw with Bligh A Side.

DIVISION TWO
Meanwhile, Division 2 saw an astronomical scoreline by Lallanas In Pyjamas, who inflicted a 37-1 drubbing on FC Bottlejobs. The division's shining star was Keane Cheeseman of the Lallanas, who scored an astounding 14 goals, setting the bar high for his competitors this season.

DIVISION THREE
In Division 3, there were some closely contested battles, with Athletic Dildao taking the win with a 9-2 victory against Barely Athletic. Josh Davies of Gayson Mount emerged as the division's top marksman, bagging 3 goals in an evenly contested 5-5 draw against Twin City FC.

As the season unfolds, these opening games have set the tone for what promises to be an enthralling season. All the teams across the divisions will be eager to build on the start they’ve made and to keep their eye on the ultimate prize. With top scorers already shining, competition remains high, and we can only wait in anticipation to see what the following weeks have in store.

Thank you to the referees, who I'm sure are enjoying the lighter and warmer nights now they are here!
