The Horncastle Monday 6-a-side league saw some incredible action this week at the Playing Fields, with the teams bagging goals for fun, with one particularly insane game.
Hardly Athletic started off with an important 2-1 win over Pathetico Seniors, thanks to a Daniel Gayton brace. Lallanas in Pyjamas won 5-0 against Real Social Dads, while WAA and Beercelona locked horns in what should have been a straightforward game.
However, WAA put in a very resilient performance to hold Beercelona to a 0-0 draw for their first point of the season. As a result, the latter dropped from the top of the standings into second. Perak were also in fine form, as they beat the LC Ultras 6-2 thanks to a Mike Fenton hattrick, Michael Wright brace and a solitary goal from Louis Jones.
Ginger Gaffer provided the biggest talking point of the week though, as they absolutely demolished SV Werder Beerman 19-1 in a cricket scoreline. It was undoubtedly the performance of the season, perhaps across all of the Leisure Leagues, and one worthy of them taking top spot. The goals came thick and fast as Ollie Cranfield bagged seven and Daniel Nixon got six, with Charlie Stapleton and Ellis Smith bagging braces to round off the scoring.
