Portsmouth Wednesday's Six-a-side Football League delivered a thrilling night of football in the third week of the season. Pitting some of the league's finest against each other, Division 1 saw intense competition and exceptional performances.
DIVISION ONE
In one of the most eagerly anticipated match of the week, Unknown secured a hard-fought victory over AFC KARKEY, edging out their rivals 4-3. Unknown's star player, Tom West, proved instrumental in the win, netting four goals to become the top scorer of Division 1 this week.
Following close behind, VAFC delivered a masterclass in attacking football, defeating Six Sexy Soldiers with an astounding 14-0 victory. The Soldiers' defence had no answer to the relentless onslaught from VAFC, marking a memorable night for the victors.
Meanwhile, leaders VN Portsmouth and Barely Athletic FC served up an engaging clash, with the former emerging victorious 4-2. The match was a testament to the competitive spirit of the league.
In an equally riveting encounter, Hippopotapearce FC squeaked by Crosshill FC 2-1. The match was also notable for the standout performance by Crosshill FC’s Dan Thornton. Despite the loss, Thornton's exceptional display on the pitch earned him the title of the most valued player of the week.
As the league progresses, the competition is heating up. The standout performances of the week by Tom West of Unknown and Dan Thornton of Crosshill FC will certainly set the tone for the upcoming matches.
