The Lichfield Monday Football League concluded its exhilarating 14-week season last night, with thrilling action across the Premier League, Division 1, and Division 2. Packed with nail-biting finishes, the league saw the champions crowned in each division.
In the Premier League, Barely Athletic emerged as the triumphant victors. With a total of 21 points and a staggering 9 wins, they outplayed their competitors, demonstrating formidable team spirit and skill. The final week saw them clinch an important victory, defeating Yes Chef 4-2 in a match that was a testament to their unwavering determination. On a side note, Show me the mane completed the great escape as they beat league debutants Bobcats Bombers 6-0 to move out of the relegation zone on goal difference!
Division 1 was taken by storm by Colonel Getafe. They secured the top spot with an impressive tally of 25 points and a whopping 12 wins. Their final week was marked by a hard-fought victory against Finley Fiddlers, winning the match 4-3 to secure their return to the Premier League after two seasons in Division 1. A huge congratulation to Thursday Club who secured the second promotion spot with ease to make sure they'll be making their Premier league debut next week!
Finally, in Division 2, Club Tropicana Drinks FC stood tall as champions. They matched Colonel Getafe's record with 25 points and 12 wins, marking a stellar performance this season. Their final match was a goal fest against Inter Row Z, where they ended up on the victorious side with an 11-2 scoreline, a fitting end to a remarkable season. Weegion just lost out on top spot despite winning 11 from their 14 games, congratulation to all involved
