Firstly, we apologise for the lack of communication recently. We have tried to remain positive and hopeful of a quick return to action this month following the governments approval that small sided football competitions like ours could return from August 1st.
However in practice, may schools, academies and regions have their own interpretation of this rule and sadly in our case, the school has decided to not make a decision on lettings until students return to school in September. The timing was not helpful to us as it announced by the government a mere matter of days before schools closed down for the summer holidays. At this time many admin staff and letting co-coordinators were still potentially furloughed or made decisions that the work load and preparations of risk assessments made it unfeasible for us to return safely and quickly. This despite us having a comprehensive risk and health assessment in place to ensure a safe return to action our league.
We remain hopeful and positive that an announcement is around the corner for us. With schools and staff returning to normal next month we feel that we should be in a better position to make an announcement during September for the return of our league.
Rest assured every team captain will be called upon the news of a confirmed restart date to explain the new covid secure procedures that we have implemented such as online payments, wearing matching colours and no handshakes or hi-fives.
We really appreciate your patience just a little bit longer and we will be back on that superb pitch to resume action as soon as possible!
If you have any questions, queries or no longer wish to participate in the league when it resumes, please contact your area manager, [email protected]. Thank you, Leisure Leagues
