After a season where they couldn't be separated, Wood de futbol and Lads on Toure went into the playoff knowing they was only one game away from winning the league.
With both teams clearly up for it, it was Lads on Toure who had the better of the start of the game, with Woods keeper keeping them in it at times. This was especially obvious when a penalty for handball was given to Lads on Toure, which woods keeper went on to save to keep the scores at 0-0. This remained the case until just before half time when a goal from Lads seen them go in at the break 1-0 up. The second half remained cagey but a well taken Woods goal seen the game end 1-1, meaning they had to be separated on penalties.
Both teams scored their first penalties to go 1-1 in the shootout. The second round of penalties seen lads miss meaning it was now 2-1 to woods. Third round of penalties seen Woods miss and lads score, so 2-2 and entering sudden death. With lads missing their sudden death penalty it gave the chance for woods to win the league with one kick, which they took with a well taken penalty.
Both teams had such a good season and commiserations to Lads on Toure who were brilliant. But its congratulations to Wood de futbol who win their first Leisure League Salford title, and in some fashion too.
