With some super football on show, it was great to see all teams in attendance. We would like to welcome two new teams to our Division One, with New Boys FC and Tekkerslovakia joining us to take us to 6 teams for the division, we hope that you enjoy your games.
It was disappointing to see one fine issued for a bad foul for Tekkerslovakia. Can all players be reminded that player safety is paramount and you are all joining us to play football.
We would also like to get as many of you involved in our facebook group, where we share updates from Leisure Leagues and where going forward we will be holding competitions and other great news. Please search >>ST NEOTS LEISURE LEAGUES>>.
Premier Division
Dolce & Lallana started us off with their fixture against a struggling Law Abiding Sigurdssons side who were yet to get a point on the board. Two Patrick Nowinski goals for Dolce were cancelled out by two for James Geary, which meant that both teams took away a point in a 2-2 draw.
In a real feisty fixture between Inter MyNan and Aston Villagers, the score line reflected the battle, as one goal edged it for the Villagers. Stephen Sexton scored the all important goal as Aston Villagers won 1-0, meaning that Aston Villagers extended their safety net from the relegation zone by 2 points.
Our last game of the night in the Premier Division was between previous league winners DCDC FC and last season's league winners Priory. It was a night to forget for Priory as a single Simon Kitchener goal could not stop a DCDC rout as Jamie Din and Sully bagged alongside two goals from Matt Larkman.
Division 1
New team Tekkerslovakia captained by Zach Wilson took the field for their first game against a strong Beer Bellies side. Beer Bellies started off strong with a goal scored by Alex Beadle, however this was cancelled out by a goal from Oli Swinscoe, who also picked up a yellow card. A further two goals from Dan Ellis and substitute James meant that Tekkerslovakia picked up their first victory in a 3-1 win.
A real blockbuster of a game between The Kiddos and Inter Yournan featured second in Division 1. The Kiddos came out of the blocks flying taking an early lead 3-1 in the first half with Kiddos goalkeeper Fabio Cresci pulling out some outrageous saves in a MOTM performance. However Inter Yournan brought it back to 4-3 and with 10 seconds on the clock, the Kiddos equalised through Jenson Stone to end the game 4-4. Goals from Isaac Clark x3 and Kieran Preston for Inter Yournan and Jenson Stone x3 and Charlie White for The Kiddos.
It was a night to forget for New Boys FC captained by Tom Townsend, as a dominant SMD side dispatched an excellent performance with goals from Moomith Ullah bagging 4, Rob Millward with 6, Tim Trebes with 2 and Steve Owens picking up one. The highlight of the night was New Boys Grzegorz Wirgowski slotting home to end SMD's streak of not yet conceding. New Boys battled well and we look forward to seeing more of them going forward.
