All the latest news for the Wolverhampton Monday 6-a-side League is direct from Our Lady & St Chad Sport's Academy.
A brilliant night of 6-a-side football in the Wolverhampton Monday League with all teams in attendance and some fantastic games throughout as the NEW DIVISION ONE got underway. We also welcome new teams 'Yam Yam Army', 'Oldman Asthmatic' and 'Bigos Amigos' to the league and it was great to see them all very competitive on the night. We wish all these teams the best of luck moving forward!
The game of the evening this week in the Premier League was an epic 2-2 deadlock between 'FC Mil Funters' and 'Dangerous Darren' as the two teams fought it out right until the final whistle. Despite both teams performing exceptionally well neither could get the winner they craved and earn the full amount of points. Both teams also played great attacking and defensive performances that ultimately matched each other blow for blow. After the game 'Dangerous Darren' remain in the better position as they finish the week in second place and 'FC Mil Funters' are third two points behind.
Our brand new Division One gave us some exhilarating games and the first game of the new league in Division One resulted in a 4-3 victory for 'Straight Outa Compton' as they pipped 'The Goonies' at the final whistle to secure their win. It was an exceptional duo display from 'Straight Outa Compton's Jamie Dougliss and Luke Harpin as they both scored braces. 'The Goonies' will feel unlucky not to gain anything from the game as they played great football during the game. It will be great to see these two teams face each other again at a later date and ultimately see who would come out on top in that game.
The team of the week this week is given 'Oldman Asthmatic' as they provided an incredible debut game in the league where they beat their opponents whilst racking up 6 different scorers in the game! Is this a sign of what's to come as the weeks go on in the NEW DIVSION only time will tell but top of the division after week one is always a good place to be.
