In the opening week of the Oxford Monday 5-a-side Football league, teams from four divisions, Premier League, Division 1, Division 2, and Division 3, showcased a thrilling display of their capabilities.
In the Premier League division, Ball Of Duty set an impressive tone for the season, showing dominance in their 9 – 2 victory against The Nutrients. The Ninja Skrtels and The Dragon FC also asserted their presence with hard-fought victories against Misfits and Stevie B's Boys, scoring 7 – 5, and 8 – 6 respectively.
In Division 1, 5 Man Step and Baines On Toast emerged victorious in their face-offs against Puyol Pants Down FC and OBUGAFC, with consistent performances leading to scores of 5 - 2 and 7 - 4 respectively. Holy Rollers also started the season on a high, clinching a 4 - 2 win over FC Copenbadly.
The Division 2 games saw Weee Charvas FC and United Nations Football Club kick off the season with confidence. Weee Charvas FC defeated Inter Mivan with a 6 – 2 scoreline, while United Nations Football Club achieved a 5 - 2 victory over Invanity. The Pythonators also made a strong start with a 5 - 1 triumph over LIGHTNING FC.
In Division 3, 4 Man Squad set the bar high with a dynamic 10 - 2 victory against Rebel FC. Oxford Original and Misfits Reserves also made their mark, defeating their opponents DClin Utd and LIGHTNING BOLTS, with an identical score of 7 – 1.
As the season has just started, all teams are keen to display their prowess and climb to the top. The top scorer for each division will be confirmed following the next set of games.
