Great to be back in action following the Xmas break, our Thursday night teams and officials braced the elements for the first match night of 2024 and this is a run down of what took place at Portchester Community School.
In an adrenaline-pumping evening of football, the fifth week of the Portchester Thursday 6-a-side Football league unfolded with spectacular performances from teams in both Division 1 and Division 2.
In Division 1, AFC Purbrook emerged victorious over Sergio Gameos Lee with a score of 5-2, while Project Zeus took down Skertals with a high-scoring 6-2 result. The Six Offenders managed to outwit Pup657 with an impressive score of 7-3. In a tightly fought contest, Lads On Toure scraped past BSC Hung Boys 2-1.
The star player of the night from Division 1 was George Green of Project Zeus. He showcased an exceptional performance netting a total of 3 goals, leading his team to an overwhelming victory and earning the title of top scorer for the week in Division 1.
In Division 2, the matches were equally thrilling. Netsix And Chill were defeated 3-1 by Borussia Donmund. However, the highlight of the evening was a stunning performance by Pants, who trampled over Suncream United with a staggering score of 13-2. In another match, Cob Fc were beaten by Bumfica 3-1.
The standout player in Division 2 was the phenomenal Neil Wood from Pants. His stunning ability to find the back of the net was evident as he scored a total of 4 goals, making him the top scorer of the week in Division 2.
This week’s matches were a testament to the skill, determination, and passion that these clubs have demonstrated throughout the season. The Portchester Thursday league continues to provide its players with thrilling games week after week, and we look forward to what the remaining weeks have in store.
