The East Cowes Sunday 6 a side season got underway last night at Queensgate Primary where all teams were in attendance apart from one. Unfortunately Div 1 Champions Ryde Raconteurs weren't able to attend this week. We do still have a space in the league for a new team so if interested get registered and start on match day 2 on the 5th September.
In the Premier League we welcomed new team Murder On Zidane's Floor who looked at home in the top division as they narrowly defeated last season's runners up Bacon Sane 2-1. No Shot FC also look to be very strong this season as they beat Eskimo FC 14-1 with Golden Boot winner Connor Furmidge straight back on the goal trail this season with 5. Their other goals coming from Brandon Thomas 3, John Morris 2, Scott Mcfarlene 2 and Jordan Foukes 2. Mataz picked up a points match win due to Ryde Raconteurs being away, they played Applepie Turnovers who also had a points match win due to the space in the Prem.
Hardly Athletic picked up where they left off last season with a 11-2 win against Bacuna Matata, James Gallop smashing in a double hat-trick to add to strikes from Eddie Johnson 4 and Ryan Phillips. Vectis Rovers will look to push at the top end of the division as they started off with a 9-4 win against AC Me Rollin. There were also wins for FC Union Street and OFOB Strollers with Union beating new team Lads On Toure 4-3 and Strollers winning 4-1 against We Lose Every Week.
Gylifi Pleasures went top of Div 2 as they opened their campaign with a 7-3 win against Muga. Pat O'Meara scoring a hat-trick while captain Ryan Phillips, Brad Austin, Jake Silver, and Sam Higgin all scored too. Khedira Pin Drop made a good start to their season after finishing bottom in the last one as they beat HeskeyTime96 5-2. Goals from Dan Sartini 2, Owen Connelly, Stephen Mccarthy and Thomas Bell. There was a man of the match performance from the Khedira captain Owen Connelly who along with his goal also created four assists.
