End of Season at East Cowes Sunday 6 a side
It was the end of the East Cowes Sunday 6 a side season last night at Queensgate Primary. It's been good to get another full season in without any lockdowns although covid issues are still effecting teams some weeks.
At the top of the Premier League No Shot FC were crowned champions on goal difference after a big win over Bacon Sane on the final day of the season. Murder On Zidane's Floor can count themselves unlucky with Info Dynamo's unable to raise a side for their game. Who knows whether it would of made the difference, there are several points throughout the season were both sides might of felt they could of scored more. Top effort to both teams and Zidane's top scorer Joe Butcher does pick up the Premier League golden boot and league MVP!!!
Hardly Athletic are promoted as champions with a 100% record from Div 1 with FC Union Street bouncing straight back to the Premier League at the first time of asking. Lads On Toure despite an impressive win on the final day against Vectis Rovers drop into Div 2 along with Bacuna Matata. James Gallop picks up another Golden Boot award to follow on from his Div 2 Golden Boot last season. Prem Golden Boot next season???
Gylfi Pleasures ran away with the Div 2 title with striker Brad Austin winning the Golden Boot. Well done to Muga V4 on an excellent season, they sealed promotion with a narrow 3-2 win over Badder Roma last night and secured a long overdue return to Div 1.
Thank you to all our refs this season Jukesy, Dave, Calum and Chris. It's been well documented in recent weeks that there is a massive shortage of refs on the island. You may not agree with their decisions all the time but these guys deserve massive respect for getting out there and doing it week in week out, 4 hours on a Sunday! I've tried it and it's not easy.
Finally a big thank to all our captains and players. It can be hard sorting a team some weeks especially with covid isolations to deal with at times this season.
