The new East Cowes Sunday 6 a side season kicked off last night at Queensgate Primary. All teams were in attendance with the exception of Applepie Turnovers who will be back next week. We also have one spot available in the Premier League to fill.
Bacon Sane appear to of dusted themselves off and come back stronger this season as they started their campaign with a 4-4 draw with title favourites Murder On Zidane's Floor. With No Shot vacating the league for this season it looks like these two will battle it out for the trophy. However we can't forget Hardly Athletic who have won back to back titles to earn themselves a shot at the Prem. With Applepie Turnovers away this week they went top with a points match win. New team OMO Ltd started with a win as they narrowly defeated Mataz 3-2. We do have a new team signed up to replace No Shot, just confirming if they will be starting on Sunday or after the Xmas break but as mentioned there is also another spot available so if you fancy a challenge get signed up!
There were some great games in Div 1 as Gylfi Pleasures fresh from a Div 2 title winning campaign started in winning style with a 3-0 victory over Info Dynamo's. Steven Deakin hit a hat-trick to help AC Me Rollin to a 5-3 win over Vectis Rovers while OFOB Strollers also won by the same scoreline but against We Lose Every Week. The other match in Div 1 saw FC Union Street draw in some players at the last minute and they will be pleased they did now as they pulled off a 5-4 win over newly promoted Muga.
Something tells me Div 2 is going to be super tight this season with 8 sides in there that can all beat each other on their day. Bacuna Matata rose to the top on the opening day as they won 5-2 against Lads On Toure. Neville Wears Prada are joint top as they beat Touch Matip 5-2, Kyle Follows scoring a brace. Two goals from captain Owen Connelly weren't quite enough for Khedira Pin Drop as they went down 5-3 to The Gym. Finally Sancho's And Cheese began with an impressive 3-0 win over Badder Roma.
Thank you to all our teams and to Jukesy, Calum and Dave for running and reffing the evening. See you all next week for the final week before the Christmas break. Cheers Rich
