The Lincoln Sunday 6-a-side Football league hit the halfway mark of the season last night, with plenty of action spread across three divisions.
In Division 1, The Cleaners showed immense strength and strategy, sweeping Megladons with a 4-1 victory, moving them closer to the top of the leaderboard. Johnstoned also mounted a convincing performance against Out On Bale, ending the game with a 5-2 scoreline. The top scorer for this division was Johnstoned’s striker, who netted three spectacular goals.
Meanwhile, in Division 2, the matches were closely contested with not more than a single goal difference in any of the games. Geri-Hat-Tricks pipped Oldcastle UTD 1-0 in a tight and tense match. Meanwhile, Aldi And Co managed to edge out Glass Ankles 2-1 in another nail-biter. The star player for Division 2 was Aldi and Co's midfielder, who scored both the winning goals.
Over in Division 3, ABCDE FC managed to secure a narrow 2-1 victory over UNITED WE STAND. The highlight of the night, however, was Inter Ya Nan's dominant 8-2 victory against Dawsons No Stars. Bad Kompany! and Branston FC played out a goalless draw. The spotlight in Division 3 was stolen by Inter Ya Nan’s forward, who managed to score an impressive 4 goals, single-handedly elevating his team to victory.
The Lincoln Sunday league continues to be a thrilling spectacle for local football fans, and with half the season still to go, there's plenty of action to look forward to. The second part of the season promises to deliver high levels of competition, as teams all vie for the top spot in their respective divisions.
