Our Thursday night teams were faced with Baltic conditions last night as the 6 a side football continued in our Isle of Wight league. Temperatures were around 0 all evening but the players soon warmed the atmosphere with some great games and the usual high level of excitement. Guns N Moses kicked off with a great 9 - 4 win over Kirbs Return as their season gets going with a welcome 1st win. Asa Gough returned with a hattrick and Chandler Builth matched his with 3 of his own to move their side out of the relegation places. Ryde Galacticos maintain their strong start to the season with a 6 - 4 win against Roverners and Puyol Pants Down made it 4 wins in a row as they got the better of Unathletico Madrid in a brilliant match that ended 7 - 6. The final prem game saw a spirited Goldies side go down 9 - 1 to leaders Sat Fesh. The game felt closer than the score line suggests with Goldies hitting the post a number of times but with goal contributions shared around Sat Fesh keep up their 100% record as they look to retain their title.
Two points still separate the top 5 in Division One with Butlins Bandits now a couple in front of the chasing pack, Their win last night against 2nd placed Milfclarters puts them in pole position for the remainder of the season. Josh Aspinall scored a good hattrick in the 4 - 2 win. Hants FC are one of those on the tail of the leaders, their 6 points partly down to a solid 6 - 4 win this week against Vectis Rovers, a powerful hattrick from Kieran Hartnell the difference between the teams as he moves to 2nd in the golden boot race. We then saw two brilliant games that ended in well deserved draws for all four teams. Khedira looked like taking the points having battled back into their game with Royal Mail-Drid but a last minute equaliser denied them and Grand Theft Porto will be relieved to get their season started with a point against Chamakh. Harry Brewer bagged 4 for Porto with Owen Miller was in fine form for Chamakh netting a hattrick to move them past Vectis and out of the bottom two.
So given the cold conditions it was a brilliant night of games in Ryde, big thanks to Pete and Nick who handled things very well on the pitches. Check out the videos on FB and Instagram and fingers crossed its a little warmer next week.
