We head into the Christmas break after the final round of matches took place at our Ryde Thursday night 6 a side league last night where there was a major shock in store.
Butlins Bandits produced it as they overcame champions Geezas Return 4-2 with goals from Aaron Doncaster, Shane Kettle, Asa Gough and James Dijkstra which saw them take the points. This gave Hurrell's Return a chance to go top and despite a great effort from Cool Runnings they did with a 10-5 win, not even 4 goals from Billy Chugg could prevent the loss for Running but a valiant effort nonetheless. All four matches in the Premier League were really competitive last night and the other fixtures were fantastic contests too as Roverners inspired by goal machine Robert Jackson (5) got the better of Goldies 7-5 while Matt Walter was also on the goal trail with a hat-trick to help Salt & Pepe to a 8-6 victory over Getting On A Bit.
Sat Fesh FC continued their unbeaten start to the season as they picked up another win last night to keep them top of Div 1. Their latest victory, a 4-2 win against Chamakh with goals from Sam Higgin 2, KJ Warrington and Barry Woolfood. Second place Men Behaving Chadli stay a point behind Fesh after a 8-4 win against Class On Ash, the highlight 5 goals from captain Tyler Randle. Murder On Zidanes Floor move up to third in the table as they hit double figures in their match with Raul Moat-drid winning 11-1. The goals were shared between Simon Cates 5, Graham Parsons 3 and Dan Taylor 3. Finally and tight game between Vectis Rovers and East Ryde Massive ended with a 3-2 win for Rovers who move up to 5th in the table.
Thank you to all the players, captains and Jukesy, Reece and Chris for reffing. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. See you all on the 7th January. Just glad we are in Tier 1 here, fingers crossed it stays that way. Stay safe everyone and see you in the new year!
