There was plenty of drama on a excellent night of 6 a side at our Ryde Academy venue last night.
Geeza's Return missing a few of their star names were given an almighty scare by Vectis Rovers. Geeza's who trailed in the game needed a last minute strike to seal a 5-4 win, the highlight was Duncan Love hitting a hat-trick. A fantastic performance from both sets of players with Vectis really deserving something from the game but it was Geeza's who took the points to stay top. There was a bit of an upset in the other match at the top of the Prem as Getting On A Bit put in an excellent performance to go level on points with Salt & Pepe winning 4-1 . Finally Hurrell's Return won by the same scoreline against Chamakh to get their first points of the season which brings them to within 2 points of safety.
We reached the halfway point of the season in Div 1 and there is one side that seem unstoppable in their quest for the title and that is Roverners. They took on a Pensioner Owen side who played some nice football themselves but a well drilled experienced Roverners side took control in the second half to win 11-2 which keeps their 100% record going. Butlins Bandits are still hot on their tails though as they came through a tough match with bottom side Rual Moat-drid who threatened a come back when they brought the score back to 4-3 however it wasn't to be and Bandits completed the victory with a couple more late goals to win 6-3 and stay 2 points behind Roverners. The final game in Div 1 between Wight United and Class On Ash was a closely fought contest with the lead exchanging sides during the game however Wight United held on for a 5-4 victory.
Thank you to all teams and see you next week. Some really fantastic matches last night, hopefully more of the same next week!
