The new season started at Ryde last night with all teams in action for one of our most popular Isle of Wight 6 a side leagues. Teams are now pretty used to the new world class 3G playing surface and some of the skills on show were pretty special.

The prem kicked off with new side Crouch Potatoes showing they will be a great addition to this league as they put in a spirited performance against Ryde Rovers. Harry Symes scored 3 for the new comers but 4 from Harry Taylor ensured Ryde Rovers got the win 7 - 6 in the end, great match to start the night. Meanwhile current Champions Netsix & Chill started with a bang against Ashton Villa who were tasting top flight football again having been promoted last season. Netsix scored 8, including two each for George Morgan, Jacob Morley and Harry Starling. Liam Freemantle with the only consolation for The Villa. Sat Fesh and East Ryde Massive followed and Harry Taylor was at it again scoring 4 for East Ryde. Kyle Follows and Nathan Martin both chipped in with two as East Ryde won this one 8 - 5. Paddy O'Meara did bag a hattrick for Sat Fesh but they leave pointless after week One. Division One Champions Roverners kicked of their premier league campaign with a 7 - 4 win over Vectis Rovers, Rob Jackson, Elliot Lee and Terry Crow each scoring a couple while a Ryan Godley hattrick was in vein for Vectis.
Division One launched with a 10 - 2 win for Interurnan against new side Venom City. Keaton Clinton with 4 for his side while Nathan Fisher and Nick Gregory both chipped in with 2 to send Inter straight to the top. Scouting for Goals are right up there too after a good 8 - 5 win over Khedira Pin Drop. Owen Connolly netted a hattrick for his team but was outdone by Kyle Follows who hit 4 for Scouting, Brad Austin also on target with a couple. Butlins Bandits won a thriller against Chamakh, Aaron Doncaster and Josh Aspinall with two each to secure the win 7 - 5. Adam Jupe with two for Chamakh. Getting on a Bit started the season well in the final game of the night as they came out comfortable winners against The Goonies. Hattricks for both Chris Coles and Danny Murphy ensuring the win 10 - 3 to wrap up what was a brilliant 1st night of the season.
Big thanks to Chris and Nick for reffing our games and to all the players and captains for being ready to go. Looks like we have a good season on our hands, lets keep up the good work next week.
