Great to be back in action at Ryde Academy last night and to welcome back all of our 6 a side teams from the festive break. Only Hants FC were missing which gave us the chance to have a 1st look at The Mighty View who are sitting patiently on our waiting list. They looked a good side and gave current Division One leaders Butlins Bandits quite a game despite in being a points win with a 5 - 0 win recorded for the divisions top side. Khedira Pin Drop keep up their promotion chances and will still have eyes on the trophy after picking up their 5th win of the season. Jarred Fisher has brought some extra quality to the side since returning and his well taken hattrick went a long way towards the 6 - 2 win. Louis Adams joned GTP for the 1st time and scored a good hattrick but the Porto side still search for their 1st win. Milfclarters have found some good form again and 3 goals from Isaac Glynn helped them to a 9 - 4 win over Chamakh who probably deserved more from the game having played well in parts. Liam Pearsall netted 3 but the young legs of Milfclarters proved to be too strong in the end. There was a great battle in the early kick off between Vectis Rovers and Royal Mail-Drid. Despite a 1st half injury reducing Royal Mail-Drid to 5 players they fought hard and never gave up, remaining competitive all the way to the final whistle. The extra man probably was the deciding factor though and Vectis came away 4 - 2 winners to move past their opponents into 5th.
The prem also offered up some excellent matches, Roverners had another Rob Jackson hattrick to thank for their 6 - 4 win over Kirbs Return while Goldies put in a brilliant performance against the high flying Puyol Pants Down to grab the win 4 - 2, Harry Groves on target twice to increase the chances of Goldies staying in the top flight. Two sides just ahead of them though both left the night with important points in the bag, Unathletico Madrid claimed a crucial 3 - 1 win over Ryde Galacticos while Guns n Moses took a point from their excellent match with leaders Sat Fesh who despite dropping their 1st point of the campaign pull further ahead in their quest to retain the title as both Puyol and Ryde Galacticos started the new year with unexpected losses. It's boiling up to being a brilliant run in to the end of the season again here at one of the Isle of Wight's most competitive leagues, can't wait to see how things develop over the second half of the season.
Big thanks as always to Nick and Pete who both had a really good night on the whistles, see you all next Thursday for round 8 of games.
