It was a drizzly damp night on the Isle of Wight as our brilliant teams all gathered for week 3 of our season of 6 a side in Ryde. There was drama and action all the way with all our matches brilliantly managed by refs Pete and Josh. Last season's champions Sat Fesh and Butlins Bandits received their medals and trophies as did golden boot winners Josh Aspinall and Val Isac before the 2 team went head to head in an amazing match that remained 0 - 0 deep into the 2nd half before Butlins went ahead. This caused a shift in the determination levels of the prems top side who went all out attack and scored twice right at the end to take an important 2 points in their quest to retain their title. They will need to beat Prison FC if they are to do so and that will be no easy task, the leagues newest team look a class act and put down a real marker this week with a 13 - 2 win over the otherwise unbeaten MoLeicesters. Guns n Moses built on last weeks well earned point with an excellent win against Roverners this week. It was some game too with both teams constantly on the attack. It finished 9 - 7 and leaves the teams 4th and 5th respectively. Pulling out of the bottom 2 with their 1st win are Milfclarters who put in their best performance to date as they got the better of former champions Puyol Pants Down. Isaac Glynn in the goals again with a well taken hat-trick but this was a terrific display by the young Milfclarters side.
Jamie Dyer bagged a hat-trick for Goldies as they made it 3 wins from 3 with a 9 - 5 win over Royal Mail-Drid. Kirbs Return remain just ahead of them on goal difference after their 5 - 2 win against Vectis and both teams are now a point ahead of Khedira Pin Drop who were held to a typically entertaining 3 - 3 draw by Chamakh. 6 teams are separated by just 2 points in the lower half of the table and The Mighty View made are one of them having picked up their 1st points of the season. Their 9 - 3 win over Grand Theft Porto coming thanks to 4 goals from James Crofts and 3 from Jay Wallder.
So another awesome night of games and thank you to everyone who was there to take part. Ryde continues to be one of the most popular and competitive league on the Island and it's a credit to the captains, their players and officials for making sure our high standards are maintained. Pleasure to be there last night, well done all and see you next week.
