We had a great night at Ryde Academy last night as our 6 a side league continued with week 8 of the season. It was brilliant to welcome Royal Mail - Drid in for their 1st game and despite a tough game they enjoyed the experience and will be a decent side once they find their feet. Captain James Power opened his goal scoring account but Ryde Galacticos were in good form and came away with a good 12 - 2 win.
Leaders Guns n Moses continued on their path to the title with a dominant performance against bottom side Chamakh. Asa Gough cashed in with 7 goals and Charlie Page bagged 5 to maintain their 2 point lead at the top. For Chamakh the season can't end quick enough as they look forward to life back in Division One. At the top of the table it was 2nd Vs 3rd in a tight, competitive game with Sat Fesh and Goldies both having to settle for a point. The game ended 3 - 3 with Sam Higgin scoring two for Sat Fesh but it's a result that only really helps Guns N Moses with two games to go in the season.
The Division One title seems to be heading the way of Roverners as Khedira slipped up at a crucial time of the season. Unfortunate maybe that they came up against a strong Unathletico Madrid side at this stage of the season but they led in the game and had chances to take the points but it wasn't to be. Harry Scott netted 4 but Unathletico took the points with a 7 - 6 win. Great news for Roverners who extended their lead at the top to 4 points with a 6 - 4 win over Butlins Bandits. Rob Jackson scored 3 for the title chasing side, backed up by goals from Luke and Matt Ward. Josh Aspinall was on target twice for Butlins and Zach Wood scored too but goal of the night went to Aaron Doncaster who's quality finish deserved to be part of a win but it wasn't to be. Well played both teams, great game.
The final game saw Vectis Rovers come up against the young and ever enthusiastic Milfclarters who are become a really decent side now. Jack McCallum bagged 3 to keep himself in the hunt for the golden boot while George Gully also netted a hattrick to back up the 5 scored by Nick Gregory on his return to action following a long lay off. Tony Pearce and Stuart Beattie both scored 2 for Vectis but they came 2nd with Milfclarters taking the win 13 - 6 in a very entertaining game.
Well done to all our teams for playing in the right spirit and to Pete and Nick for reffing the games. We are still aiming to expand back out to 16 teams for the new season so any teams looking to make Thursday nights a thing just get in touch, we have a few spaces let to fill still before the season starts on 10th October and registration is still just £5 so get in quick.
See you next week guys.
