All teams were in attendance to finish the season off at our Ryde Academy Thursday 6 a side league.
The big match on the final day was down at the bottom of the Premier League where Butlins Bandits took on fellow relegation threatened Cool Runnings. Butlins knew only a win would do and James Dijkstra and Zach Wood set about scoring 4 goals a piece along with a goal from captain Aaron Doncaster to take the victory 9-5 and beat the drop while plunging Cool Runnings into the drop zone. Not even 4 goals from the leagues top goalscorer Billy Chugg were enough for Runnings who will be looking to bounce back next season in Div 1. Hat's off to Chugg for getting the top scorer award in a relegated side that joined the league late, some effort.
Goldies showed their title credentials for next season as they secured a 8-4 win over Champions Hurrell's Return to finish a point behind them. Jamie Dyer scoring 4 times to finish on 37 for the season, 8 shy of Chugg. Another one of the Premier League's leading marksman Rob Jackson was also on target 4 times as Roverners defeated Salt & Pepe 8-4. Finally there was a morale boosting 5-4 victory for relegated Getting On A Bit who beat Scouting For Goals 5-4 , Clarke Bowerman scoring all 5.
There wasn't a huge amount to play for in Div 1 apart from pride on the final outing of the season. Div 1 champions Sat Fesh had an off day going down 6-1 to Vectis Rovers. Scott-Jackson scoring 3 to add to goals from Wraxton 2 and Rankin. Runners Up East Ryde Massive impressed to win 12-2 against Class On Ash who end the season in third after occupying a promotion place for so long before hitting a poor run of form at the crucial time. Chamakh finished with a 4-2 win over Raul Moat-drid. Finally Second Half FC and new team Going Toulouse shared a 4-4 draw.
Congratulations again to Premier League champions Hurrell's Return and Div 1 winners Sat Fesh FC. Also congratulations to golden boot winner Billy Chugg 45 (Prem) and Paddy O'Meara 36 (Sat Fesh) along with the leagues MVP winner Billy Chugg (Cool Runnings)
Finally a big thank you to all of our refs Jukesy, Reece, Nick and Chris. It's a hard job and much appreciated. See you all for the start of the new season on the 3rd June.
