An excellent start to our new and bigger Ryde Thursday night 6 a side league with all 10 teams in attendance. With the longer game time some of the lads found it a bit harder out there this week. It's amazing what an extra 10 minutes makes in 6 a side. Just think of the fitness!
Anyway onto the results and it was Wight United who are the early leaders after a 10-2 win against a Blue Ball team short on players but a great effort from them too. In second place are Vectis Rovers who saw off new team Butlins Bandits 9-3. Vectis will be hoping to push Geezas this season at the top. Geezas started off with a 5-2 win over a very competitive Roverners side who held their own against the 6 time champions. Another new side with some familiar faces involved are Class on Ash, they gave a good account of themselves but ultimately went down to Getting On a Bit, a team who have improved week by week over the last months since joining the league. In the final fixture Salt & Pepe beat Chamakh My Pitch Up 4-2. Last season's runners up Chamakh will be hoping to get one or two players back over the coming weeks.
Thank you to all teams and see you next week
