It was good to pop down and see match day 2 of our Ryde Thursday 6 a side season at Ryde Academy as we saw the return of two old sides. Multiple champions Geeza's returned to the fray along with Ryde Rovers who played years ago at our East Cowes league. Thank you to Hurrell's Return and Raul Moat-drid who have departed for now. Hopefully see you both back again in the future.
Roverners are the early season pace setters in the Premier League as they made it back to back wins to go top on goal difference. Rob Jackson, Terry Crow and Lewis Kennard all found the back of the net as they defeated Goldies 3-2. Jamie Dyer and Harrison Taylor scoring for Goldies in reply. Scouting For Goals also made it two wins from two as they beat last seasons Div 1 Champions Sat Fesh FC 3-2. Captain Dan Bonner scored twice along with a goal from Charlie Watterson to seal the win. Salt & Pepe are third as they shared a 2-2 draw with East Ryde Massive. Two goals from Jordan Smith weren't quite enough to get the win for Pepe. Geeza's Return are back and they secured a win on their return by beating Butlins Bandits 4-1. They have a bit of catching up to do after missing the first week of the season but it's a decent start.
In Div 1 there are three sides all with two wins to open the season with. Top of that trio are Second Half FC who won 5-2 last night against Vectis Rovers with goals from captain Tyler Randle, Rob White 2, Stuart Keen and Shay Phillipson. Two goals from Danny Murphy weren't enough to prevent a defeat for Getting On A Bit as they went down 4-2 to Chamakh My Pitch Up. Cool Runnings won but drop to third on goal difference after a narrow 2-1 victory over Going Toulouse. Last season's top goal scoring Billy Chugg bagging a double for Runnings. Finally Ryde Rovers started with a emphatic 7-0 win over Class On Ash. Rovers look to be strong title contenders for Div 1, there's a long way to go yet but an impressive start.
Thank you to all our teams and our match night supervisor Dave Jukes along with refs Chris and Dave. See you all next week for match day 3.
