Our epic season of 6 a side at Ryde Academy came to an end last night with Sat Fesh confirmed as champions again. They picked up a near perfect 27 points to finish 9 clear of 2nd placed Guns n Moses who recovered well after a poor start to the season. Puyol suffered with availability in the final weeks and slip to 3rd. It was a brilliant season for Roverners who finish 4th ahead of Ryde Galacticos and Goldies. Unathletico bow out of the league and so Goldies join Kirbs Return in Division One for the new season with a new team set to jump in and compete in the top flight. Both the top two signed off with good wins last night, Sat Fesh putting the final nail in Kirbs premier league coffin with a 14 - 2 win, Val Isaac confirming the golden boot in the process with 6. Guns n Moses had Charlie Page to thank for their end of season win. he bagged all 6 of the teams goals as they won 6 - 3 against Galacticos.
The Division One title race was settled last week and champions Butlins Bandits were in holiday mode last night, getting over turned by an inform Vectis Rovers. They won't be worried though with the trophy already confirmed and striker Josh Aspinall netted 4 more in his brilliant season that ends with his as both Golden Boot and MVP winner. Well played Josh. Milfclarters had a points win due to Grand Theft Porto suffering with illness and missing the game and moved within a point of the champions. They will join them in playing top flight football next season and Isaac Glynn finished 2nd in the golden boot having not played the 1st few games of the season so a brilliant effort from him. Khedira's brief title challenge fell away in the final weeks and despite looking good in their new kit this week, they couldn't pick up a win against Hants FC and finish the season mid table. We saw one of the goals of the season in Royal Mail Drid's game against Chamakh with Mail-Drid player Michael Rice taking on just about every player Chamakh player before slotting home, it was a crazy moment of skill and determination that deserved to be on camera but unfortunately wasn't. Hopefully we can repeat the magic at some point, it really was an incredible goal. The game ended 6 - 3 to Royal Mail who end their 1st full season in 5th place.
Thank you to everyone for being part of what has been one of the best seasons i can remember. We have a league full of good teams who just want to play football and aside from a few isolated incidents our games have been played in the right spirit with respect for each other and for the officials. I look forward to another season of the same which will kick off on Thursday next week. I will be in touch with team captains about the fixtures really soon so keep an eye out and please be ready to go. This is a popular league with a number of teams looking to get involved so we do need full commitment from everyone to keep your team involved.
Cheers guys, good luck with the new season.
