The new Ryde Thursday 6 a side season kicked off last night with a fresh challenge for all the teams especially teams finishing in the bottom half last season. With two divisions it gives other teams a chance of winning a title and gaining promotion. It also means the top teams will have tougher games more often.
7 times champions Geezas Return came back to start another season looking for their 8th title. It was a tough match to come back to with Salt & Pepe giving them a stern test, Geezas eventually getting the win 5-2. However the early leaders in the Premier League are Chamakh My Pitch Up who put in a commanding performance during an 11-2 victory over Vectis Rovers. The game of the night in the Prem came between new boys Hurrell's Return who went down 4-3 to Getting On A Bit.
Moving on into Div 1 the early leaders are new team Pensioner Owen who stormed to a 12-0 win over Raul Moat-drid with Jack Sanderson hitting 4. However that was not enough to take him to the top of the goal scoring charts as Terry Crow hit 5 in an 11-3 win over Class On Ash. The other match in Div 1 was a fantastic contest with both team banging in goals as Butlins Bandits started the season with a win over Wight United 7-5.
Thank you to all teams and see you all next week. Also a big thank you to everyone for paying online.
