Thursday Night 6 a side - Ryde

What a night we had in Ryde last night as our Thursday night 6 a side teams put on quite a show for week 4 of the season.

In the Prem we had a 16 goal thriller to kick things off between Vectis Rovers and Champions Netsix & Chill. It finished 9 - 7 to Vectis in as entertaining a game as you could wish to see, great advert for Leisure Leagues. Goals followed in the 2nd game too as Ryde Rovers kept up their early season form with a solid 8 - 2 win over Sat Fesh, Alex Dumbrell with 4 to help take the points for Rovers. It was youth Vs experience in the next prem game as Crouch Potatoes just came out on top in another brilliantly close game that ended 5 - 4. Rob Jackson's hattrick for Roverners just not enough to get anything from the game as Crouch Potatoes continue to impress in 3rd place. The final game in the top flight was a cracker between Ashton Villa and East Ryde Massive. It looked like an upset was on the cards as Villa put in a determined performance but eventually East Ryde managed to find the net rather than the crossbar and the game turned to give last seasons runners up the win 3 - 2 and ensure they remain unbeaten so far. So 3 out of 4 games decided by just one goal, showing what a fascinating and exciting division this is this season. Great stuff from all the teams.

It was a pretty similar story in a couple of the games in Div One too although Scouting For Goals showed they are worthy league leaders with a comprehensive 9 - 0 win over Chamakh, Brad Austin on form with 4, backed up by a hattrick from Kyle Follows and 2 from George Johnson. Venom City picked up their 1st win, 4 goals from Nick Gregory helping them to a 10 - 4 win over The Goonies to kick start their season and lift them out of the bottom two. In another amazing game we saw Butlins Bandits get the better of Getting on a bit by the finest of margins. Goals from Owen Connolly, Aaron Doncaster and James Dijkstra proving to be just enough in the 3 - 2 win that keeps Butlins in the promotion places going into week 5. The final game was unbelievable. At half time Khedira Pin Drop led 5 - 0 and the game seemed all but over, whatever was said to Interurnan at half time should be bottled up and sold though as they came out after the break like a different side. Led by two goals from Nick Gregory, the game was suddenly back on and Owen Connolly's Khedira side had no answer to the Inter onslaught. Keaton Clinton took over and netted 4 while stand in captain Elliot Dwyer added two himself as Inter completed one of the most unlikely comebacks to take the points 7 - 6. What a game and what a performance from Inter in the 2nd half.

Massive thanks as always to Chris and Nick who were under a lot of pressure given the tightness of so many of the games and both did a great job.

Such a good season underway here in Ryde with competitive games played in the right way, well done to everyone involved, same again next week please!
