What an incredible round of games we saw last night in our Sandown 6 A Side league played at Bay Academy in Sandown. So many goals scored this week in some brilliant fixtures. Don't forget if you aren't already part of this league, we do have a few spaces available and for the last few days of September the joining fee remains at just £5 so if you have been thinking about a Monday night 6 a side experience then look no further and get your team signed up to play next Monday and you could be part of one of these match reports this time next week.
The evening kicked off last night with a ridiculous game between Two Girls One FA Cup and Hardly Athletic. It was end to end stuff throughout, often akin to a basketball game and come the final whistle Two Girls were just ahead 11 - 10, fair play to both teams for putting on such an entertaining match to start the evening. Only a point separates these two now in the middle of the table with just a week to go in the season and all eyes on who can claim 3rd place, both these sides are in with a shout of doing so. Wet Dogs are favourites to sneak that 3rd place, sitting a point ahead of the rest and they are in good form having beaten Vectis Rovers 14 - 5 last night. Luke Healy was in fine goal scoring form, netting 7 of his teams goals while Alex Adanou backed him up with a hattrick. The title race goes to the last week as we hoped it would and the two sides pushing for the trophy meet next week in a fantastic finale to the season. They both remained on course with wins last night. JJFC seeing off Eye of The Tiger 14 - 3 while The Six Offenders had to work a bit harder as Retro's put in a great performance to push the title contenders all the way. In the end it finished 7 - 6 to Six Offenders but what a game and well done to both teams for putting a real shift in.
So we head into next week with it all to play for, who will pick up the title on the last night ? Can't wait to find out. Don't forget the new season will start the next Monday which is the 10th October, there is no break so teams need to be ready and obviously any new teams need to be registered in plenty of time for that.
Have a great week guys, see you next week for the season finale.
