NEW SEASON UNDERWAY - Sandown Monday 6 a side

In the thrilling world of Isle of Wight football, last night saw the exciting kick-off of the Sandown Monday 6-a-side Football League. With two divisions battling it out under floodlights, everyone was treated to a dazzling display of raw talent and great sportsmanship.

In the Premier League division, Unreal Madrid II established early dominance with an 11-5 victory over recently crowned champions Digestive RobNobs, setting a high standard for the season ahead and proving that a week is a long time in 6 a side football. New side Oompas Magic also delivered an impressive performance, outscoring fellow league debutants Paqueta Crisps 13-2. The evening's standout player was Sonny Mulholland of Oompas Magic, who netted an incredible five goals, setting him apart as the Premier League's top scorer of the week. JJFC look to be back to full strength and could well be the side to beat again following a dominant 12-0 win over No More Cap. Promoted side Bees Knees took home a 5 - 0 points win and played their part in a thrilling and competitive friendly against Unreal Madrid who hung around for the extra game following the untimely departure from the league of Hung Like A Bony. So we have an unexpected space to fill in the top flight so any strong teams looking for some Monday night action should get involved now and be part of this awesome league from the early stages. 

Meanwhile, in Division 1, Eye of the Tiger roared to victory with a 7-1 win against Westys Wanderers. The game was closer than the score reflects and Westy's played their part in an entertaining contest. Similarly, a strong looking Khedira Pin Drop II team made their mark with a 7-1 triumph over Simply Sixtoes. Will the Pin Drops be able to maintain that form when captain Owen Connolly returns ? Could be a great season for them if they can. Pukki Blinders also managed to secure a hard-fought 9-6 win against new side Lake Matip. Who then played a fun friendly against another new team in Notorious FAT who might take a few weeks to get up to speed but start with a moral boosting 5 - 0 win. 

As the season has just begun, these initial successes set an exciting tone for the weeks to come. With such a strong start, the Sandown Monday 6-a-side Football League promises to provide an exhilarating season of football action for our teams. The pace has been set and the bar is high in Sandown, it will be brilliant to see how the rest of the season unfolds.
