It was brilliant to visit our Sandown 6 a side league last night and be able to capture some footage on camera of our games. There were some excellent goals scored and some great action from all the games. Top of the bill was the 1st Vs 2nd clash with serial champions JJFC up against last seasons bridesmaids The Six Offenders. The challengers started well and led at half time 3 - 1 that soon became 4 and it looked like the title race was being blown wide open. But JJ are champions for a reason and they showed real character and togetherness to slowly claw themselves back into the game before edging in front shortly before the final whistle. Jordan Cook netted 4 of the leaders goals to seal a memorable 6 - 5 win, fair play to Six Offenders though who looked for all money like they were going to upset the odds and get themselves back level on points. Sonny Mulholland bagged a great hattrick but it just wasn't quite enough and JJ go 4 points clear at the top.
Retro's continued their good form with a convincing 21 - 5 win over BAJ FC who had to pull in a few guest players to get the game on so well done to them. Ethan Dicker's goal tally nears 50 for the season with another hatful as he put the ball in the net no less than 13 times to boost his teams goal difference. Riley's Rockets had a 5 - 0 points win but played a fun game against J Bashers who filled in while waiting for a space in the league and Norfolk In Chance just got the better of Eye of The Tiger in one of the tightest games we have seen for a while. Leading 6 - 5 Eye Of The Tiger would have hoped to see out the game but a late flurry of goals meant Norfolk stole the points. We saw some great strikes in this game including a special goal from Harrison Tindal which has been featured on the national Leisure League social pages. It was one of 4 for Harrison in the game, matched by 4 from Jason Smythers who's Norfolk side just came out on top this time. A great game and brilliant to have been able to see it.
Well done to all our teams and of course to Chris and Andy for reffing, I will be looking to put in more regular appearances in Sandown moving forward so keep up the great work and maybe your skills can get some national recognition.
