In the thrilling final week of the Sandown Monday 6-a-side Football League, the teams wrapped up an exciting season with a series of hard-fought matches in both the Premier League and Division 1.
In the Premier League, The Bees Knees secured a thunderous victory over No More Cap Fc with a score of 19-1, securing their place in the top flight for another season. Their crowning glory was the stellar performance of Morgan Perrin, who was honoured as the most valued player of the week. Perrin's extraordinary skills and consistent efforts were an integral part of The Bees Knees’ campaign. The title though goes to Unreal Madrid who's final night 5 - 0 win claimed over the absent league leaders JJ FC saw them leapfrog into 1st place on goal difference and give them a deserved trophy win. Taking 14 points from their 10 games proved to be just enough while JJ will rue the poor availability this week.
In Division 1, Eye of the Tiger roared to a 6-0 victory over Westys Wanderers, with Rick Murthwaite leading the charge by scoring a total of 4 goals. Murthwaite's outstanding performance, combined with his team's dominant display, truly marked the evening.
However, it was Pukki Blinders who truly shone in Division 1, winning their final match of what has been a comfortable season against Epsteins Islanders with an impressive 13-6 score. This victory solidified their position at the top of the division, bagging the title with a total of 18 points and 9 wins from their 10 games.
So with both divisions wrapped up we can look at the individual performances of note this season.
Frank Stuber wins the Premier League Golden Boot for Bees Knees while Rick Murthwaite secures the Division One award for his 18 goals. Rick also takes home the MVP award for the season so it's double celebration for him this week.
