In a riveting week seven of the Shrewsbury Monday 6 a side Football League, teams across the Premier League and Division 1 showcased their skills and determination, resulting in some highly entertaining matches.
The Premier League saw FC BACK OF THE NETO clashing with Tony's Tigers with the latter walking away triumphant in a 2-0 victory. Goals from Jenson and the impressive Archie secured Tigers what could be a vital victory in the race for the title. Neto will rue their missed opportunities as Tigers open up a 2 point gap at the top with 3 games left to play.
In the Premier League's other fixture, Barely Athletic faced off against WBS FC in another match that ended in a 2-0 win for WBS FC. The star of show was undoubtedly Kyle from WBS, who displayed clinical finishing as he netted both goals for his side. Barely were competitive throughout but lacked a cutting edge in front of goal. The result moves WBS into second place and well in the hunt for the title as the season nears its end.
Meanwhile, Division 1 was equally packed with action as SVR overpowered FC Shrewbacca with a decisive 6-2 victory. Shrewbacca were in the game for long periods with 2 goals from Ben but fell away at the end as SVR grabbed a flurry of second half goals. Doubles from Eddie, Jake and Olly ensured their side stay very much in the hunt for promotion.
In the division's final match, Passion FC shocked everyone with a 7-0 sweeping win against Halfway Wanderers. Well taken doubles from Harrison, Ollie and Alex along with a goal from Tom gave "The Passionfruits" a convincing victory that ensured they remain 2 points clear at the top. Halfway just could not get going in this one.
In the evening's friendly match, Grand Theft Porto played out a 3-1 friendly victory over SVR. Porto remain 2nd in the division with SVR tucked in just behind them.
