Play in the Shrewsbury Monday football league powered by Leisure Leagues
In the thrilling week 7 of the Shrewsbury Monday 6-a-side Football League, we saw an array of impressive performances that kept spectators on their toes. The action-packed matches from the Premier League and Division 1 brought excitement and showed the high level of competition the league has to offer.
In the Premier League, FC BACK OF THE NETO fell just short against Tony's Tigers in a closely contested match that ended 2-1. A fine double from Joel Brown proved the difference as rejuvenated Tigers won their 4th game on the spin. Neto were more than a match for their opponents throughout with Sam netting a terrific goal but they couldn't quite find the equalising goal. The result is a blow to Neto's title chances with 3 games remaining.
Hardly Athletic and Passion FC provided arguably the most entertaining match of the evening, with Passion FC edging out their rivals with a 4-3 victory. The top scorer of the week in the Premier League division was Eddie from Passion FC who bagged an impressive three goals but it was a late header from Joe that proved the be the winner on the night. Hardly will count themselves unfortunate to lose the game with Kieran and Nathan x2 grabbing their goals. The results keeps Passion on top and Hardly's hopes hanging by a thread.
Meanwhile, in Division 1, Barely Athletic triumphed with a 5-3 win against KFC in a back and forth contest. A hatrick from Ellis gave his side a vital victory as their promotion push gathers pace with a goal from Neil and a double from Jay replying for KFC.
Other promotion contenders Manj Dog also secured a solid 3-1 victory against impressive newcomers Jock Itch FC. Jack, Matty and Lewis grabbed the goals as Manj kept up their strong form. Jock Itch competed well throughout and could have got something out of the game had it not been for some rustiness in front of goal.
In the evening's final match, Halfway Wanderers breezed past FC Shrewbacca with a 3-0 triumph. Wanderers were impressive throughout with the dangerous Leon helping himself to 2 goals. Tyler scored the other goal as Halfway grabbed a deserved win. It was a bad day at the office for Shrewbacca who just didn't get going in this one.
These matches have set the stage for an exhilarating next week of the Shrewsbury Monday 6-a-side Football League as the season end draws ever closer. The teams will surely be eager to bring their best game forward, and we can't wait to see what unfolds.
