Exciting Action at Shrewsbury 6aside as Season Nears Climax

Play in the Shrewsbury Monday football league powered by Leisure Leagues

In an electric week 9 of the Shrewsbury Monday Football League, we were treated to a stunning array of goal-scoring prowess and hard-fought battles across both divisions.

In the Premier League, FC BACK OF THE NETO pulled off an impressive 2-0 victory over WBS FC, led by top scorer George Armstrong who netted both goals. Armstrong's excellent form has been a driving force for his team this season, and his performance last night showed exactly why. The result secures 2nd spot for Neto who will look to mount a title charge next season. WBS fought well but came up just short on this occasion.

Elsewhere, Tony's Tigers roared to a sweeping 5-0 victory over Passion FC, a result that secured them their second successive title. Goals from Joel, Alban, Ollie and a double from Merch secured an emphatic win. For Passion it was a night to forget and they will look to improve on their inconsistent form moving forward.

Turning to Division 1, TK Maxx Club De Futbol showcased their dominance with an overwhelming 9-2 triumph over Barely Athletic. Their star player, Toby Rutter, was the standout performer of the match, scoring an astonishing 5 goals, making him the top scorer of Division 1 this week. Additional goals from Harry, Ross, Max and Josh added gloss to the scoreline with Jack Davis scoring a well taken double for Barely.

Saloppy Seconds also tasted victory, coming out on top 4-2 against FC Shrewbacca. Lewis banged in all 4 goals in a devastating display of quality finishing for Saloppy Seconds who have settled into the league nicely. Shay and Ben grabbed goals for Shrewbacca who have been a little inconsistent with their performances of late.

However, the most nail-biting fixture of the week was the thrilling encounter between Division 1 leaders Hardly Athletic and Halfway Wanderers. Hardly Athletic edged the game 3-2, thanks in no small part to the efforts of Nathan Davies who scored a fine double. A further goal from Kieran was enough to secure a tight victory with Halfway replying through Leon and Alex.

As we enter the final week of the season the Premier League title has already been sown up by the exceptional Tigers taking consecutive titles however the relegation is still very much in the balance with Passion FC and WBS both battling to save themselves from the dreaded drop. In Division 1, Hardly Athletic have sown up promotion and top spot but we have an exciting 3 way battle for the remaining promotion spot going into the final week.
