Play in the Shrewsbury Monday football league powered by Leisure Leagues
In the latest round of Shrewsbury's 6-a-side Premier League and Division 1 football action, some standout performances have lit up the pitch in what was a thrilling fourth week of the season.
In the Premier League, FC BACK OF THE NETO put in a commanding performance, overpowering WBS FC with a 4-1 victory. The star of the show was Charlie, who netted two goals for NETO with an equally impressive performance from captain George. Further goals from George and Chris were enough for a commanding victory. Jack replied for WBS who will be disappointed to begin the game with only 5 players as this very much hindered their competitiveness.
Meanwhile, in a hard-fought battle, Passion FC responded to last week's defeat with an impressive 2-1 win over champions Tony's Tigers. It was a superb team display from Passion with goals from Ben and the returning Al enough to give them the spoils. For Tigers, who's goal was scored by Josh, it was a brief set back following a string of victories and they will look to respond well next week to ensure they keep top spot in the league.
The latest results leave the league excitedly poised with 4 teams all separated by a single point at the top.
Over in Division 1, Barely Athletic battled out a tough 2-2 draw with newcomers TK Maxx Club De Futbol in a fiercely contested match. TK Maxx raced into a 2 goal lead with goals from Josh and Robbie. But Barely came back into the game late on as the impressive Dec bagged a goal back from a set piece with Jack Thompson grabbing a deserved equaliser late on.
In the evening's final match, Division 1 leaders Hardly Athletic once again showcased their goalscoring prowess beating Halfway Wanderers by 11 goals to 1. Ellis Turner was given player of the match, netting a hat-trick whilst Marcus was equally impressive scoring a treble of his own. Further goals from Adam x2 and Nathan x2 completed the rout with George notching a consolation for Wanderers.
As we move into the fifth week of the season, teams will be eager to build on their successes and rectify their shortcomings. The Premier League and Division 1 of the Shrewsbury Monday 6-a-side league are shaping up to be fiercely competitive, and football fans can look forward to more thrilling action in the coming weeks.
