Great Action for Week 2 of the Shrewsbury 6-a-side League

In the second week of the  Shrewsbury Monday Football League, teams from the Premier League and Division 1 divisions put on an exceptional display of talent, sportsmanship, and determination.

In the Premier League, Tony's Tigers showcased their title credentials on the field with a commanding 4 - 1 victory against Barely Athletic. The star of the match was undoubtedly Liam Walker, who netted two goals for the Tigers. His fine performance, along with goals from Joel and Archie  gave his side a comfortable win with Rhys grabbing a consolation for Barely.
As we now enter week 3 of the season, the standings are already beginning to take shape. Teams will be keen to kick on in the coming weeks to gain momentum in the battle for the championship and promotion.

Switching gears to Division 1, FC Shrewbacca and Halfway Wanderers faced off in what proved to be a one-sided affair. FC Shrewbacca emerged victorious with a 4 - 0 win. Ben Cowley was the standout player for Shrewbacca, scoring two goals in a man of the match display. Halfway Wanderers battled well with their keeper making some top saves but could not match Shrewsbacca on the night.

In a closely contested match, debutants Grand Theft Porto and SVR finished in a 1-1 draw. Porto made a strong start  and would have been ahead but for the heroics of "Don the Don" in goal for SVR. The new boys were made to pay for their profligacy as Jack Pengilly struck for SVR to take the lead. However, Porto came roaring back and equalised through Gaz midway through the second half. Both sides fought to gain the lead but eventually had to settle for a draw in a highly entertaining match.

In the evening's friendly matches, Passion FC and FC Back of the Neto played out a highly entertaining 2-2 draw and WBS comfortably defeated Halfway Wanderers 4-1.
