The week 7 of the Shrewsbury Monday 6-a-side football league was highly entertaining as the teams battled it out in the fiercely contested Premier League and Division 1 matches held last night.
In the Premier League division, FC BACK OF THE NETO showed their prowess on the field with a solid 4-0 victory over Passion FC. The team's star player George Armstrong led the charge, scoring two of the four goals with Sam and Harry adding the scoreline.
SVR took a beating with a 3-0 loss against the Tony's Tigers. Tigers' Oli Mcdougall proved to be the star of the game with a well taken double as Joel added gloss to the scoreline. The result leaves Tigers 3 games away from a potential 2nd league title whilst SVR will aim to regroup next week.
Over in Division 1, the action was just as hot. FC Shrewbacca managed to edge past Barely Athletic with a 2-1 win. Great goals from Ben and Dan were enough to secure the win. Barely, who replied through Kie, could not find top gear on this occasion.
In another match,TK Maxx Club De Futbol defeated Halfway Wanderers with a decisive 4-0 scoreline. Sam, from TK Maxx stood out as the top scorer in Division 1, netting a total of 3 goals with a further goal added through Josh Richards. Halfway were never quite at it for this one and will be looking to get back to winning ways next week.
League leaders Hardly Athletic suffered a surprise defeat as Saloppy Seconds emerged a with a commanding 4-1 victory. It was the first victory for captain Mitch and his team with goals from Ben, Wajalf and a double from Lewis enough to take home a morale boosting victory. Adam netted a consolation for Hardly who had a rare off night.
With only a few weeks left in the season, it's all to play for in both divisions. Tigers lead the way in the Premiership with Neto 3 points behind. In Division 1, Hardly Athletic still hold a imposing 3 point lead over Barely Athletic.
